“An Evening with IAP” To Benefit the Internships in Aging Project Alumni Scholarship Fund School of Social Welfare, University at Albany July 18, 2015 Dear Corporate Sponsor: It is with great enthusiasm that we, as Co-Chairs, invite you to sponsor a special University at Albany School of Social Welfare Internships in Aging Project (IAP) event—“An Evening with IAP”. We would be honored to have you join us in supporting the education and career aspirations of future social workers. The scholarship helps grow the next generation of MSW students in the Internship in Aging Project at UAlbany’s School of Social Welfare. Last year, this event was a huge success! It was a celebration of all the partners in the IAP family – students, alumni, community members and staff – all critical to the success of the program. Most importantly, thanks to our donors, we were able to establish an endowed scholarship to support IAP students. We need your help to make this endowment grow. There is a critical workforce shortage of social workers trained to work with older adults and their families while the older population rapidly expands. Alumni of the unique IAP gerontological training program felt so committed to its continuation that they established a scholarship for IAP students. Social workers are needed to help elders and their families negotiate healthcare systems, adapt to illnesses, and cope with losses that come with aging. Social Workers also help to develop wellness programs, facilitate healthy family lifestyles and facilitate growth in later life. Your support of this scholarship can help train additional social workers to meet the needs of our growing aging population. This annual event , which is well attended by some of Albany’s best and brightest, will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Capital District Irish American Association (formerly called the Albany Hibernian Hall), on 375 Ontario St., Albany, New York. The event will feature acoustic music the Sanders Vail Duo and others, dinner and dessert buffet and a cash bar. Guests will have the opportunity to celebrate with Internships in Aging Project alumni, staff and representatives from aging service organizations as well as friends and family. We graciously request that your organization sponsor IAP at one of these levels – $1,000 or above, $500 or $200. Please complete the enclosed reply form and return by Monday, August 31, 2015 to be included as a sponsor in the event invitation.
