When reading with your child you might ask them to tell you about the characters, setting and the plot of the story. Anything you can do at home to support what your child is learning at school will greatly benefit his/her learning success. Tips to remember: The character is the “Who” in the story. (Not always people). The setting is the “Where and When” of the story. The plot is the ‘What” of the story. There can be multiple settings and plots. However, in most children’s books there is usually just one.
