Last week we continued to learn about character
traits, settings, and plot. When reading with your
child you might ask them to tell you about the
characters, setting and the plot of the story.
Anything you can do at home to support what your
child is learning at school will greatly benefit his/her
learning success.
Tips to remember:
The character is the “Who” in the story. (Not always
people).
The setting is the “Where and When” of the story.
The plot is the ‘What” of the story. There can be
multiple settings and plots. However, in most
children’s books there is usually just one.
This week we will begin learning about the main idea
and details of a story.
