INFORMATION

A.

Division Reports:

Health Sciences & Athletics :

Working on SLOs. 95% completed.

Curriculum Revisions - working on.

Some courses to be inactivated for SLOs.

Math:

Working on SLOs.

VP Arce met with math faculty regarding the dean of math vacancy.

Industry & Technology:

Working on 7-8 assessments.

Inactivate some courses that are affected by re-numbering.

A working meeting today for all faculty to attend.

Working on repeatability.

Humanities :

Hiring: 230 applicants for one English position.

Working on a major push to have SLOs assessed.

Hiring in foreign language.

Health Sciences & Athletics :

Hiring full time positions – Rad Tech, Nursing, SRC, and Coaching.

Business:

Moved in new building.

Technology works well in the new building. Computer works with overhead projector.

Goal is to complete SLOs by May 5.

Two full-time positions: Business and Accounting

Behavioral & Social Sciences :

Working on SLOs. It is currently at 80% but after this semester, it should be 95%.

Department undergoing Program Review – Economics, Human Development, and

Psychology.

Inactivate some courses.

 Women’s History Month held in February.

Anthropology Symposium on May 17.

Hiring in History, Philosophy, and Psychology.

Decision that letters of recommendation are not necessary when applying for a job.

They are not required. The division requests final interview candidates to bring letter of recommendation.

Clubs are active in the division and discuss relevant issues.

Fine Arts:

SLO - 64 courses.

Course program SLO template on website.

Three programs assessments done this semester.

Hiring – 96 applicants for the Dance position.

Program planning and unit plans for Fine Arts, Music and Dance.

Upcoming dance festival from 4/11-14.

 Photography exhibit, “Air, Earth, and Fire.”

Student Art Show begins 5/17.

The 4 th annual guitar artist series is on May 4.

 The musical, “Grease” on March 29-30.

Working on curriculum.

Issue of course repetition. Affects our division in ceramics, sculpture, and music.

Affects transfer program.

Inactivated 21 courses, reviewed 10 courses, and proposed nine new courses.

Learning Resource:

Ed Martinez is retiring who has been the public face of the library.

Issues of program review for the library is not an academic area of the college.

Prepare program review based on student services. SLOs are called SAO “Service

Area Outcome.”

Able to get library positions replaced when retirements come up.

ASO:

ASO proposed that ICC merge with ASO.

Worked on tour festival on 4/18. 21 countries represented.

Open mike on 4/2 from 1:00-2:00 pm. Students are welcome to perform a poem or voice an opinion to the campus.

Study Abroad Program – ASO would like the program to return to ECC. Dr. Gold suggested the students write a resolution and present it to the Board.

II. Discussion/Action

A.

BP/AP 4025 – Philosophy for Associate Degree & GE: M. Winfree, C. Gold, J.

Shankweiler, and F. Arce worked on the BP/AP. The latest version is in the catalog.

Any suggestion to update a possible different focus. Procedure was lengthy and more of a philosophy statement.

III. OTHER

A.

Area Council: This Council provides advice to the Vice President. It is recommended to meet twice a semester. Discussion items: (1) problems and issues of campus; (2) reassess purpose of Area Council.
