Online Social Networks
An online social network, also called a social networking site, is a website that encourages members in
its online community to share their interests, ideas, stories, photos, music, and videos with other
registered users. Popular social networking sites include Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Some social networking sites have no specialized audience; others are more focused. A photo sharing
site, for example, is a specific type of social networking site that allows users to create an online photo
album and store and share their digital photos. Similarly, a video sharing site is a type of social
networking site that enables users to store and share their personal videos.
