Approval of the Minutes The Minutes were approved as presented. IV. Approval of the Agenda Motion to add Approval of the ASO Calendar and Guidelines as a 5.2 New Business item. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by J. Casper. Motion passed. V. New Business 5.1 Appointments – M. Mc Lean Recommendation to appoint Elizabeth Mercado as the Senator of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by K. Humphrey. Motion passed. Recommendation to appoint Stephanie Perez as the Senator of Fine Arts. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by A. Nader. Motion passed. Recommendation to appoint John Fornes as the Senator of Industry and Technology. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by K. Humphrey. Motion passed. Recommendation to appoint Jose Iglesias as the Senator of Humanities. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by M. Hiney. Motion passed. 5.2 Approval of the ASO Calendar and Guidelines – A. Nader Copies of the ASO Calendar and Guidelines were distributed. If there are any questions, comments, concerns, or changes that need to be addressed, please speak with Angelina Nader. Motion to approve the ASO Calendar and Guidelines for spring 2009. Moved by A. Nader, Seconded by M. Mc Lean. Motion passed. VI. Old Business 6.1 Talent Concert Fundraiser – M. Mc Lean The Committee to oversee the talent concert is currently being formed and advertising will be seen around campus soon. We need to decide on a date to hold the Talent Concert. The location where it will be held is still undecided. Motion to approve April 30, 2009, as the date for the Talent Concert. Moved by M. Mc Lean, Seconded by J. Casper. Motion passed. This will be an evening event. We need to schedule auditions dates, a rehearsal date, and a date to fix any technical issues, all being beforehand (H. Tyler). VII. Reports 7.1 ASO Member Reports K. Humphrey – The Math Division meeting discussed that the Math 180 course is under review after some issues with the accreditation visit. The meeting also discussed future online office hours for teachers that will take effect within a year. This will be in addition to regular office hours, not in lieu. A. Nader – Dana White’s visit has been cancelled. J. Wyatt – The Computer Science division meeting discussed how they are trying to add new classes. 7.2 ICC Reports P. Stokes – The new ASO representative for ICC is Philip Stokes. The blood drive will be held on March 24, 25, and 26th. Please spread the word and give blood. Page 2 of 3 The bookstore will be renovating starting after graduation and will be occupying the East Lounge on July 6th for up to a year. The Spring Fling Club Mixer is on March 13th. Club Rush was an overall success. 7.3 Committee Reports J. Udeochu – The Academic Senate Committee discussed a new Ethics Code. M. Mc Lean – The College Curriculum Committee discussed many programs and classes that have become inactive. Some of these are under review. A. Nader – The Web Task Force Committee discussed how the My ECC website needs to be renovated. They are thinking of adding blogging, site tracking, and social networking links to the homepage. S. Hong – The Academic Awards Committee is trying to plan for the Academic Awards night. Many people are needed for the Planning Committee. C. Enemuoh – The Students and Community Advancement Area Council discussed how financial aid may be changing for students who have had it in the past. Registration opens today for some students who plan on registering for summer courses. 7.4 Adviser Reports J. Watanabe – Make sure to check your ECC emails. VIII.
