Stokes After the two recent attacks on campus, we need ideas on how to keep our campus more safe (P. Stokes). We could write letters to the Campus Police with our ideas on how to improve security. We need more officers or cameras around the campus and not just around the parking lot (D. Charles). There are no cameras inside the bathrooms where this particular attack took place. ASO could make a flyer to post on the outside bathroom door that encourages students to take another person with them (M. Mc Lean). We could try to team up with the bookstore and request that they begin selling pepper spray (S. Perez). Is there a way that we could have those “blue” phones that are around campus installed into the bathrooms (J. Casper)? We need to be informing our peers about the recent incidents and tell them to be more aware (H. Tyler). 5.4 End of Year Banquet – M. Mc Lean The end of year banquet is currently being planned. We will be going to the Melting Pot in Torrance on Thursday, June 4, at around 6 p.m. Depending on the amount of people attending, the prices may change. Please RSVP. VI. Old Business - None VII. Reports 7.1 ASO Member Reports S. Perez – The Fine Arts Division meeting discussed mainly its budget, possibly new full-time faculty, and the possible expansion of the Health Center’s hours to accommodate the nighttime students. M. Mc Lean – Because of E. Yerelian’s insistence that the new fees for the express, hand-carry transcripts were too high; the price per transcript has been lowered from $10 to $8. Page 2 of 3 7.2 ICC Report P. Stokes – ICC is currently working on planning the Spring Games on April 24, 2009. 7.3 Committee Reports H. Kadiri – The Academic Awards is being held on May 20, 2009. We need volunteers to help with the 4-5:30 p.m. shift, the 5:30 – 7 p.m. shift, or both. J. Casper - The Parking Committee discussed how only the first two levels of the new parking structure are currently open. There are two to three security cameras per level. Five parking spots will be reserved for ASO members. 7.4 Advisor Reports - None VIII. Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items H. Tyler – Please take a few minutes to fill out the papers being distributed that ask: 1) What does citizenship mean to you? 2) What volunteer groups are you a part of now (campus or community)? Participation in Student Government has been shown to increase participation in your community by 15%. H. Tyler - Student Services groups asked what our outcome from our classes should be. This is stated in our SLO (Student Learning Outcomes). Our SLO is what we will be able to do when the class is finished. H. Tyler – For those who have not been to a Board Meeting, it will be Elise Yerelian’s last meeting and we want to be there to support her. J. Fornes – I need to know every one’s T-shirt sizes so we can place our order. D. Charles – We need volunteers for High School Senior day on Friday, May 15th. High school students will be visiting the campus. There will be student panels, booths, campus tours, and breakout sessions. All Student Ambassadors will be working that day. M. Cahn (visitor) – I would like to introduce myself as I am hoping to be appointed as the Senator of Heath Sciences and Athletics. H.
