FOODS AND PERSONAL NUTRITION RECIPE BOOK OBJECTIVE To allow you to collect recipes for the foods you eat and would choose to cook if you were responsible for feeding yourself, friends, or other members of your family. To help prepare you to cook for yourself when you are living on your own. DUE DATE The recipe book will be due ______May 7, 2010 REQUIREMENTS - Compile a recipe book in a three-ring binder using notebook paper. Recipes must be hand written. It is recommended hand written recipes be in ink. Only one recipe should be written on each side of paper. Include a divider page labeled for each of the following categories. This does not have to be purchased tabs. No recipe allowed from the internet (exception- if we used the recipe in class that I gave to you to use). - The following categories are required in the order listed: Appetizers/Beverages (5) Cookies (5- 3 made in class) Quick Breads (5- 3 made in class) Yeast Bread (1- Cinnamon Rolls made in class) Pies (5 + one crust pie crust and two crust pie crust)- 7 Total Main Dish (5 + Pizza made in class)- 6 Total Vegetables (5 + Vegetable Stir Fry made in class)- 6 Total Helpful Hints (This is for handouts that will be provided; i.e. substitutions, storage charts, etc. but may include information found by student.) - Optional categories may be added; examples. Soup, Casserole, Miscellaneous - Each recipe must be cited. List the source of the recipe under the title of the recipe. (Name of cookbook, source i.e. grandmother, teacher) - A table of contents should be the first page in the recipe file. - A bibliography of sources, in alphabetical order, should be the last page of the recipe file. - Recipes for alcoholic beverages are not allowed. GRADING The recipe book is worth 250 points: A = 250-225 points B = 224-200 points C = 199-175 points D = 174-151 points All categories must have the required number of complete recipes, listed on the front of page, to earn the grade assigned. If any category does not have the required number of complete recipes the next lower grade will be assigned. (Following directions & neatness, table of contents, bibliography, recipes cited, divider pages and turned in by the due date are worth 50 points of the possible grade earned.) NO RECIPE BOOK WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. IF YOU ARE AT SCHOOL AND WILL BE LEAVING BEFORE CLASS YOU MUST TURN IN THE BOOK BEFORE YOU LEAVE. IF YOU ARE IN ISD TURN THE BOOK IN BEFORE SCHOOL. Extra credit is given for more recipes than required.
