SAMPLE TIC-TAC-TOE MENU COMMUNITY AND STATE Investigate a local lawmaker to learn about problems and progress in your community or state. Using the Creative Problem Solving method, plan the solution to a serious problem faced by citizens of your community or state. Investigate all the ways in which people can have fun in your town or state. Create a way to describe and advertise those opportunities. Interview a person who has lived for more than 50 years in your town or state. Describe changes and trends in that person's lifetime through a product. Read several stories about your state. Use a Venn diagram or other organizational tool to illustrate similarities and differences between two or more of the stories. Write or produce an original play or skit of your town's history. Perform and/or direct this for an audience. STUDENT'S FREE CHOICE Study newspaper or microfilm articles on a specific topic over the last 50 years. Describe trends in education, government, crime, etc. using written report and graphics.
