2016 Parent/Player Expectations

Southmoore Junior High Volleyball 2016
Welcome to SHS volleyball 2016!!! We are extremely excited about the
upcoming season!!
In the past eight years, our high school program has grown from a fledgling
new sport to the area (our first season record was 2-22), into a competitive,
strong force to be reckoned with (2013 we were the first team in the district
of Moore to EVER win regionals and make a State appearance!) This has
been achieved through intense post and pre season work outs along with
structured in season practice plans as well as participation in youth leagues,
camps and local volleyball clubs throughout the year; however, it all begins
to be applied in the junior high program.
Along with expectations on the court, we have high standards for our
player’s work ethic and community involvement off of the court and in
whatever they may participate in. It is our desire for the girls to have a
strong, high integrity, respectful and mature presence in their relationships
with God, their families, their peers, their teachers, their opponents, and all
people involved with this program. We hope to teach responsibility,
leadership, morals and values, confidence and integrity in each and every
one of our players. We will encourage each athlete to be a team leader – a
leader true to their mission, core values and self.
SHS Volleyball Expectations:
The athlete is expected to work her hardest in every task. We ask
that each athlete give us her very best effort.
The athlete must be coachable, and willing to change technical
skills and to display a positive attitude toward practice, teammates,
and coaches.
Warning:
Any negative attitude or behavior by players or parents will
warrant immediate removal from the gym and could result in
reduced playing time for players.
1. Players are expected to wear Southmoore apparel to all practices and
events.
2. Players are expected to show respect for themselves, each other,
coaches, opposing teams, officials and all school faculty.
3. Players are expected to be at every practice and on time.
Three unexcused absences = 3 spikes and you’re out.
Absolutely no reason for an unexcused absence – text, call or email
head coach.
4. Hair must be pulled up and out of player’s face at all times!
5. Away games – players are expected to ride the bus to the games and
ride the bus back to the school – there are very few exceptions.
6. Grades – players are expected to maintain good grades throughout
the year, but especially during the season. Our goal is to not have
anyone on the ineligibility list EVER! If players are found to be on
the list as ineligible, they will be unable to play the following week or
until grade(s) are up. Second time on the ineligible list, player will
be suspended from playing for two weeks. Third time on the
ineligible list is third spike and player will be removed from the team.
7. Parents are expected to address any questions, comments or concerns to
someone on the coaching staff at an appropriate time. In between
games, immediately following games, or during practices is not an
appropriate time to do so. This includes texting DURING a match!
Please email or call to set up an appointment. Playing time WILL NOT
be discussed!
8. Parents are only allowed in practice gym the last FIFTEEN minutes of
practices.
9. Please make sure that all players are picked up immediately following a
home match or upon arrival back from an away match.
This year all required athletic paperwork is to be filled out online. Besides the physical
form, all other paperwork must be filled out and saved electronically. Please go to the
link below to enter all of your player's information after May 1, 2016. This will simplify
things for athletes playing multiple sports and the "loss" of paperwork as it will all be
stored electronically now. These need to be completed online before any player can
participate in practices. You will need your student athlete's student ID number to begin.
It takes approximately ten minutes to complete all of the required forms.
The online forms can be found at:

Thank you so much for becoming a part of our SaberCat volleyball family.
We are anticipating this to be a great year! If you should have any
questions, comments or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact any
member of the coaching staff.
