Food Pantries:
Loaves and Fishes
listed on the website under “Get Help.” Some of the services include shelter,
advocacy/accompaniment & legal representation.
Check website for phone numbers of locations in other nearby counties.
Call to schedule an appointment; Check the website for criteria. WIC provides
basic nutrition services to eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum
women as well as infants and children; services include monthly food
package, vouchers, nutritional education, and coordination with Health Dept.
clinics or private healthcare providers in the community.
Referral required (from counselors or Family Resource Center director). May
visit pantry no more than once every days. Receive one week’s worth of food
for family members.

program and may not require a referral, go to Mecklenburg County’s Just 1
Call website. Click on “Quick Search” and enter “food pantries”. The search
may then be narrowed by county.
Women and children's emergency shelter open 24/7 year round to all
women. Girls of any age and boys up to age 17 are welcome with their
mothers. Professional case management, free medical clinic, and other
services are offered as well. For intake requirements call Ms. Barbara Green at

Community Link’s Homeless to Housing program can help working homeless
individuals and families find and keep rental housing. Social worker assesses
the needs and works with those accepted into the program.
