Excellence in Research &
Creative Activities Review
Subcommittee Charge
Responsible for guiding the Council on Research’s
actions as charged by the University Policy on
Organized Research Units. In coordination with the
University’s assessment/evaluation initiatives, the
committee will recommend improvements to the
current procedures for evaluating organized research
units.
This subcommittee must include a minimum of
four COR members, and no more than 2 voting
members selected from Faculty or Staff who are
not students or Voting Faculty.
Review nomination packets and make
recommendations to the Vice President for Research
for the University’s Excellence in Research &
Creative Activities Award. Also, review
nominations and make recommendations to the Vice
President for Research for the SUNY Chancellor’s
Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities
and the SUNY Research Award.
This subcommittee must consist of at least 7 to 9
members including the President’s designee, the
Senate designee, student representation and COR
members.

Consider improvements to the campus procedures
related to grants management. Provide
recommendations to the Vice President for Research,
via COR, on methods to improve investigators’
capacity to efficiently apply for external funding and
manage grants received
This subcommittee must be composed of a
minimum of three COR members; the Director of
the Office of Sponsored Funds, ex officio; a
minimum of two principal investigators designated
by the Council; directors or designees from the
following Sponsored Funds offices: Personnel,
Purchasing, Accounting, and Compliance; and no
more than 2 voting members selected from Faculty
or Staff who are not students or Voting Faculty.
IRB Policy Review

policies regarding the well-being of human subjects,
handling of non-compliance issues, and compliance
with other regulatory standards.
