SRES 12-5 A Resolution to Amend the Constitution to
Clarify Eligibility for Unpaid Positions and the
Hiring for Such

WHEREAS, Associates positions are not described in the Student Government Bylaws
2

or Constitution; and
WHEREAS, Associate positions perform functions that are important to the function of
4
5
Student Government; and
WHEREAS, Lack of information and unnecessary restrictions on Associate positions
6
do not reflect well on the organization nor encourage applicants or new
7
students to become involved in Student Gogvernment; therefore, be the
8
Constitution of Student Government

AMENDED, By the Student Government of Wright State University here
11
assembled, that:

(1)
Section 6.02 be amended by:
13
a.
Striking Section 6.02 Subsection a. Item 1. after the word “Studies” until the
14
15
full stop; and
b.
Striking Section 6.02 Subsection d. and replacing it with:
16
“d. Volunteer, intern, Associate, and Secretary positions shall be open to
17
all students in good academic and judicial standing who meet the
18
requirements posted in the released application for such positions, these
19
requirements having been duly approved by the Executive Board.”; and
20

Section 7 be amended by:

a.
Adding the following immediately after Section 7.05:

“SECTION 7.06

UNPAID POSITIONS
25
Intern, Associate, and Secretary positions in Student Government shall be
26
created temporarily and filled on a needs-basis by recommendation of the
27
member to whom such positions shall report and, except as provided in
28
this Constitution, shall be discontinued at the end of each academic year.
29
The needs-basis shall be adjudged by the Executive Board, who shall, in
30
conjunction with the member to whom such positions shall report, write
31
and publish a description of job duties for such positions. The position
32
shall be filled according to the procedure outlined in Section 7.07 “Vacant
33
Position Appointment”, except as provided for in this Consitution.”; and
34
35
b.
Renumbering Section 7.06 as 7.07; renumbering 7.07 as 7.08; and
renumbering 7.08 as 7.09.
