13 -1 A Resolution to Modify Required Candidacy Signatures 1 2 3 WHEREAS, University College and Graduate Senator candidates are required to obtain 100 signatures for candidacy; and WHEREAS, University College and Graduate students are new to campus and have a 4 constituency that is widespread throughout the campus and have no 5 classes that are filled with only their constituents and have limited network 6 opportunities; and 7 WHEREAS, Limited access to the required number of constituents deters and/or 8 disqualifies potential candidates; now, therefore, be it 9 10 RESOLVED, By the Student Government of Wright State University here 11 assembled, that: 12 (1) The required number of signatures required for University College and 13 14 Graduate Senator candidates be reduced to 50; and (2) Article XXI Section 2 C of the Student Government By Laws be 15 amended to reflect this change by inserting the following wording after 16 “…with the exception of”: “University College Senator as well as the 17 Graduate Senator, both of which will require a minimum of fifty 18 signatures, and” so that Article XXI Section 2 C of the By Laws reads, 19 “Prospective candidates must complete a petition for candidacy, 20 which includes securing legible signatures and student identification 21 numbers from members of their respective constituency. At-large 22 candidates (President and Vice President) need a minimum of three 23 hundred (300) signatures from the general student body. All other 24 candidates need a minimum of one hundred (100) signatures from 25 their respective constituency, with the exception of University College 26 Senator as well as the Graduate Senator, both of which will require a 27 minimum of fifty signatures, and the Medical School Senator as well as 28 the SOPP Senator, both of which will require a minimum of 40.” 29 Introduced by Tiffany Fridley, Ryan Rushing, Josh Hilgefort
