What is AAAF?
-The American Academy of Applied Forensics is a continuing education program created for law
enforcement professionals.
Where is AAAF located?
-It is located at Central Piedmont Community College’s Merancas Campus in Huntersville,
North Carolina. The physical address is 11920 Verhoeff Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
What types of courses are offered at AAAF?
-The AAAF offers courses on both digital and general forensics. A complete course list can be
found on our website under the corresponding programs.
What is the cost of taking a course at AAAF?
-Tuition is waived for all North Carolina sworn law enforcement (a $50 material fee applies to
some classes). Non-sworn personnel and civilians can expect to pay tuition ranging from
approximately $75 to $200 depending on the length of the course.
Does AAAF offer online courses?
-Yes! The AAAF has 21 online courses ranging in both digital and general forensics. Multiple
sections of many courses are run each semester.
What do your Online courses consist of in terms of style, mode and content?
-Online classes utilize the BlackBoard learning system. Most courses are accompanied by audio
and/or video along with the presentation. External links and downloads are used for additional
research into the topic.
Will I receive a certificate for completing a course?
-Yes. All upon the successful completion of a course, you will receive an AAAF certificate.
How do I register for a course with AAAF?
-Call CPCC Customer Service at 704-330-4223.

I’m not from the Charlotte area. Where can I stay while taking a course at AAAF?
-There are numerous hotels around the campus. Candlewood Suites, Comfort Suites and Sleep
Inn give our students a discounted rate of $59.99- $65 if you ask for the CPCC rate. Please visit

How many courses does AAAF offer?
-We currently have 97 courses but are continuously adding new courses. Not all are active each
semester.
Will I receive course credit for AAAF courses that can be transferred to another university or degree
program?
-AAAF courses are continuing education courses, not curriculum classes so it is unlikely;
however, it is up to the individual program to decide what they will or will not accept for credit.
AAAF courses are accepted for Intermediate and Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates in
North Carolina.
Do you have night courses and if not what times do your courses run?
-AAAF courses generally run Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Class times may
vary depending on the course.
Can I take your advanced courses if I have had the basic training at another school or training
academy?
-Yes, with prior approval of the Program Developer of that department.
