Ensures introduction of IT and programming courses (ICS 110 and ICS 111) in second year. This introduces basic progamming and computing concepts prior to the entry into the upper-division ABIT program. Similar courses are taught in the first year of instruction at UH Manoa and UH Hilo. Ensures students have basic IT skills to succeed at the upper division level. 7. Proposed term of first offering: Fall semester of 2011 year. 8. Special fees required: no yes, explain: 9. ICS 200 is a new course based on a similar course taught at UH Hilo CS 200. UH Hilo's CS 200 is equivalent to ICS 200. Currently, introductory programming courses are not required for Business Careers III students. As a result, these students take courses with similar content in the third year as ABIT students. Due to the compact nature of the ABIT program, students do not gain sufficient computing skills prior to capstone project. These changes introduces basic 100 and 200 level computing and programming skills in the second year.
