GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVES: To provide students with knowledge and practical experience in the planning and production of a fashion promotion event. 6. STUDENT LEARNER OUTCOMES: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: a) Develop a logical detailed plan for the production of a fashion show. Included is an organizational chart for a specific type of show naming the target audience; formulating a theme and identifying committee responsibilities. b) Prepare guidelines for the selection of models, garments and accessories. c) Organize the model lineup and music. d) Write commentary appropriate for the venue. e) Advertise the event and conduct ticket sales. f) Execute the fashion show. 7. RECOMMENDED COURSE CONTENT: A. Types of fashion promotion (1 hr.) B. Importance of identifying themes, delegating responsibilities, and organizing publicity, staging, lighting, commentary and music. (2 hrs.) C. Advance planning of the fashion show calendar: (12 hrs.) --location --date --budget --publicity/advertising --programs --music --floor plan/stage --garment and model selection --rehearsals D. Execution and evaluation of the fashion show: (15 hrs. + outside classtime) --conducting a model fitting --organizing a lineup --accessorizing the garments --model hair and makeup --preparing the commentary --rehearsing the show --presenting the show --evaluating the show 8.
