NZQA registered unit standard 29411 version 1 Page 1 of 3 Title Design infrastructure and services for subdivision construction works approvals Level 6 Credits 20 Purpose People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of factors affecting stormwater management; design stormwater disposal systems for an urban subdivision; design water supply reticulation for an urban subdivision; design wastewater disposal systems for an urban subdivision; and design road access ways for an urban subdivision. Classification Surveying > Subdivisional Design Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Legislation and documentation or their subsequent amendments or replacements, relevant to this unit standard include: Conservation Act 1987; Land Drainage Act 1908; Resource Management Act 1991; AS 2200:2006 Design charts for water supply and sewerage; NZS 4404:2004 Land development and subdivision engineering; SNZ/PAS 4509:2003 New Zealand Fire Service Fire Fighting Water Supplies Code of Practice; catchment management plans; regional and district plans; territorial authority rules and standards for subdivisions; water utility standards. 2 Evidence for this unit standard must comprise a plan for a proposed subdivision of an urban site into at least four lots, which includes stormwater, wastewater, water reticulation, access, and utilities. 3 Evidence for all outcomes must comply with territorial authority standards. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of stormwater management during construction activities. Infrastructure ITO SSB Code 101813 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 29411 version 1 Page 2 of 3 Evidence requirements 1.1 Factors affecting water run-off and soil conservation during construction are described. 1.2 Methods and applications for erosion control systems during construction are described. 1.3 Factors which influence erosion control activities during construction are described. Outcome 2 Identify stormwater flows and design a stormwater disposal system for an urban subdivision. Evidence requirements 2.1 A physical and documentary investigation establishes existing stormwater flow characteristics. 2.2 Present and future stormwater flows and hazards are established in accordance with the results of the investigation and territorial authority standards. 2.3 The disposal system for an urban subdivision is established taking account of present and future land use, and in accordance with environmental legislation, and territorial authority standards. Outcome 3 Design the water supply reticulation for an urban subdivision and produce plans. Evidence requirements 3.1 Present and future water supply demand is identified. 3.2 A detailed design for water supply reticulation is developed and presented in accordance with project data and design parameters. Outcome 4 Design a wastewater disposal system for an urban subdivision and produce plans. Evidence requirements 4.1 Present and future water flows are identified and design parameters established for wastewater disposal. 4.2 A detailed design for wastewater reticulation is developed and presented in accordance with project data and design parameters. Infrastructure ITO SSB Code 101813 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 29411 version 1 Page 3 of 3 Outcome 5 Design road access for an urban subdivision and produce plans. Evidence requirements 5.1 A detailed design for road access is developed and presented in accordance with project data and design parameters.
