People credited with this unit standard are able to: set up automatic slab cutting and discharge process; monitor and adjust automatic slab cutting and discharge process; and operate slab cut-off and discharge in manual mode. Evidence requirements 1.1 Pre-run checks and adjustments are carried out in accordance with company documentation and enable the manufacture of in-specification product. 1.2 Setting up time enables plant utilisation requirements to be achieved. Outcome 2 Monitor and adjust automatic slab cutting and discharge process. Range 2.2 Visual monitoring and reporting of out-of-specification product enables the maintenance of product specifications. 2.3 Monitoring of throughput and product behaviour enables adjustments to be made in order to minimise plant wear, achieve required plant utilisation, and achieve required product quality and yield. 2.4 Monitoring of automatic discharge crane operation enables the achievement of continuous plant operation. 2.5 Any remedial actions are taken in accordance with company documentation to restore the operational effectiveness of the slab casting process. 2.6 Any remedial actions are taken in accordance with company documentation to restore the operational effectiveness of the automatic discharge crane.
