The New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) is a schedule to the Building Regulations
1992. It provides requirements for compliance with the Building Act 2004 when
constructing a new building or altering an existing one. The Building Code sets out
performance standards that building work must meet and covers aspects such as
structural stability, fire safety, access, moisture control, durability, and services and
facilities.

Performance criteria
1.1
Rainwater handling components and systems are described in accordance with
the NZBC and industry practice.
Range
1.2
Rainwater handling system materials and finish coatings types are described in
terms of their advantages and disadvantages.
Range
1.3

systems.

Rainwater handling component checks are described in terms of meeting job
specifications.
Element 2
Describe surface water discharge factors.
Performance criteria
2.1
Surface water discharge options are described in terms of stormwater drainage,
water harvesting, soak pits, site permeability, outfalls.
2.2
Surface water discharge factors are described in terms of safeguarding people
from injury and property from damage.
2.3
The purpose of NZBC Acceptable Solution E1/AS1 is described in terms of its
use as a surface water discharge information source.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.

Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
