3 In-house procedures refer to the oral or written instructions to staff on workplace procedures and safety, and includes, where relevant, the Risk

Management Programme (RMP).

Elements and Performance Criteria element 1

Destock facility, and clean out and wash facility and equipment. performance criteria

1.1 Poultry are caught, handled, and moved in accordance with the relevant Animal

Welfare codes.

1.2 Waste material is removed from the facility and disposed of in accordance with in-house procedures.

Range: litter, hatch debris, manure.

1.3 Cleaning equipment and machinery are checked for function, and faults are identified and repaired or reported, in accordance with in-house procedures.

1.4 Cleaning equipment and machinery are set up for operation in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

1.5 Movable equipment is removed from the facility, washed down, and reinstalled, in accordance with in-house procedures.

1.6 Facility is washed down without causing damage to electrics, equipment, or fittings, and in accordance with in-house procedures.

Sanitise facility and equipment, and collect swabs and samples. performance criteria

2.1 Sanitising equipment and machinery are checked for function, and faults are identified and repaired or reported, in accordance with in-house procedures.

2.2 Sanitising equipment and machinery are set up for operation in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

2.3 Sanitising chemicals are measured and mixed in accordance with chemical manufacturer’s specifications.

2.4 Unused sanitising chemicals are stored and secured, and mixing equipment is cleaned or decontaminated and stored, in accordance with chemical manufacturer’s specifications.

2.5 Pr otective clothing is worn in accordance with chemical manufacturer’s specifications.

2.6 Facility, and facility equipment and machinery, are disinfected and disinfested in accordance with in-house procedures.

2.7 Watering system is flushed with disinfect ant in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

Swabs and samples for microbiological testing are collected, recorded, labelled, and despatched in accordance with in-house procedures.

3.3 Facility environmental control systems are set for operation and meet poultry requirements on arrival in accordance with in-house procedures.

Range: environmental control systems may include

– ventilation, relative humidity, lighting, temperature control systems, time clocks, alarms.

3.4 Mechanical systems are adjusted to meet poultry requirements on arrival in accordance with in-house procedures.

Range: adjustments may include

– feeder height, drinker height, depth of feed, depth of water, environmental setting, equipment assembly.
