Performance criteria 1.1 Environmental conditions are checked and reported and adjustments made, in accordance with on-farm procedures and the welfare code. Range 1.2 The health of weaners is checked, problems are identified and reported, and remedial action is taken, in accordance with on-farm procedures and the welfare code. Range 1.3 symptoms – physical, behavioural. Water supply is checked in accordance with on-farm procedures and the welfare code. Range 1.4 adjustments made – in response to stock behaviour, to environmental sensor and control equipment. quantity, quality. Information is recorded in accordance with on-farm procedures. Element 2 Feed weaners. Performance criteria 2.1 Weaners are fed with the diet appropriate to that class of stock according to the feed schedule and on-farm procedures. 2.2 Safety equipment and clothing are worn during the feeding of pigs in accordance with on-farm procedures. 2.3 Weaners that are not eating are identified and reported, and remedial action is taken, in accordance with on-farm procedures and the welfare code. 2.4 Identified water supply problems are dealt with and/or reported in accordance with on-farm procedures. Performance criteria 3.1 Pigs in monitor pens are identified and checked in accordance with on-farm procedures. 3.2 Pigs are weighed with minimal stress and without injury in accordance with onfarm procedures. 3.3 Pig weights and ages are recorded in accordance with on-farm procedures. 3.4 Weaners with growth rates below specified target figures are identified and reported in accordance with on-farm procedures. Element 4 Move weaners to the grower facility. Performance criteria 4.1 Receiving pen is checked to ensure feeders and drinkers are operational in accordance with on-farm procedures. 4.2 Route over which pigs are to be moved is checked to ensure barriers are in required position and there are no obstacles in accordance with on-farm procedures. 4.3 Weaner pigs are moved to grower accommodation causing minimal stress and no injury in accordance with on-farm procedures. 4.4 Transfer details are recorded in accordance with on-farm procedures. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
