Classification Public Sector Services > Mediation Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes Definitions The ethical and legal obligations are those arising from mediations where the mediator has no decision making power in the content of the mediation. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate understanding of ethical issues for mediators. Range ethical issues are to be referenced back to an identified code of ethics, rules or standards for mediation which may include but is not limited to – AMINZ, LEADR. Evidence requirements 1.1 Demonstration identifies the code of ethics the mediator operates from in mediation. 1.2 Demonstration identifies ethical issues by reference to an actual mediation scenario. 1.3 Demonstration discusses, by reference to an actual mediation scenario, responses to the ethical issues. Evidence requirements 2.1 Demonstration identifies potential legal obligations of mediators. 2.2 Demonstration identifies issues of ethical and legal obligations with reference to an actual mediation scenario. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
