Governance and management roles may intertwine, vary from organisation to organisation, and vary during the evolution of a social service organisation. Wellington: NFP Press. 3 Glossary Boundaries of authority, roles, and functions in governance of the organisation are established by reference to relevant sources. Relevant sources may include but are not limited to: service provider standards, policy, trust deed, incorporation documents, a constitution, a charter. Relevant sources are to be determined according to the context of assessment. Personnel in governance and management may be paid or unpaid, and may include but are not limited to: chairperson, board or executive members, kaumātua, kuia, rangatahi, trustees, secretary, treasurer, chief executive officer, manager, administrator, programme staff, service staff. Roles and functions of governance and management may be established by constitution, charter, enterprise standards, incorporation documents, policy, trust deed. A social service provider (also referred to in this unit standard as the organisation) may occur within iwi and tauiwi contexts, and may be legal entities, or informal organisations without a legal personality. Range statements are to be applied according to the context in which assessment is taking place. 3 This unit standard may be assessed on the basis of evidence of demonstrated performance in the work place, or through the use of simulated work place situations that closely approximate the performance required in workplace settings. 4 People credited with this unit standard are able to contribute to governance of the organisation in terms of the roles and functions of governance in the Glossary. Evidence is required of contribution to governance through one of the roles or functions .
