People credited with this unit standard are able to explain: the legislation
framework and Risk Management Programme (RMP) that applies to a
seafood operation; the responsibilities and procedures included in the
seafood operation’s RMP; and the verification of the seafood operation’s
RMP.

disposition, preventative action and confirming effectiveness of the action.
Seafood operation refers to a seafood premises that is operating under a registered
RMP.
Legislation includes but is not limited to – Animal Products Act 1999.

Element 1
Explain the legislation framework and RMP that applies to a seafood operation.
Performance criteria
1.1
The explanation includes an overview of the legislation framework that applies
to the seafood operation.
1.2
The explanation includes an outline of the codes of practice that apply to the
seafood operation and their relationship with the seafood operation’s Risk
Management Programme.
1.3
The explanation includes an overview of the seafood operation’s own RMP.

1.4

Element 2
Explain the responsibilities and procedures included in the seafood operation’s RMP.
Performance criteria
2.1
The explanation includes the designations of personnel with responsibilities
under the RMP and includes an outline of the roles of these personnel.

The explanation includes the responsibilities and procedures for required
notifications in accordance with legislation.

Performance criteria
3.1
The explanation includes an outline of the operator verification and external
verification required for the RMP in accordance with legislation.
3.2
The explanation includes an outline of the operator verification programme
implemented by the seafood operation.
3.3
The explanation identifies the seafood operation’s selected external verifier, and
includes an outline of verifier rights and responsibilities.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
