Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Drive the tractor and equipment to the work site.
Performance criteria
1.1
A three point linkage implement is attached to a tractor in accordance with
manufacturer’s requirements.
Range
1.2
harrows, rotatill, roller, ripper.
Tractor and implement are prepared to move to work site in a manner which
does not cause damage to equipment.
Range
implement raised, adjustment made to allow minimum sideways
movement, arm secured to tractor frame, pin clips secured,
operation angle set.
1.3
Care taken while driving through gateways ensures that machinery does not
make contact with fences or gates.
1.4
Implement is lowered when not working or during movement to or between
worksites in accordance with manufacturer’s requirements.
Element 2
Maintain the surface of a track used for working horses.
Range
sand, plough, spring, summer, autumn, winter.
Performance criteria
2.1
Area to be worked is free of horses and other obstacles.
2.2
Area is worked in either left or right direction without redoing areas of last round,
at a uniform speed using suitable equipment to produce a consistent surface
free of lumps, at a depth which enables horses to work on throughout the year
without jarring.
Range
harrows, rotatill, roller, tyne harrows, light ripper.
2.3
Track is graded to provide a water table of three percent fall on the inside,
cambered on the outside, free of mounds or depressions in accordance with
race club procedures.
2.4
Equipment is returned to storage area, left prepared for next user and any
damage reported to supervisor in accordance with race club procedures.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
