Definitions
Organisational procedures refer to documents that include: worksite rules, codes,
and practices; equipment operating instructions; production specifications;
documented quality management systems; and health and safety requirements.

PPE refers to personal protective equipment and may include but is not limited to:
protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses, headwear, footwear, hearing protection,
safety devices.
Powder refers to detergent concentrated, conventional; heavy, light; high density, low
density; white, coloured.

Competence is to be demonstrated on at least three occasions of monitoring and
maintaining powder detergent production.

Use safe working practices.
Performance criteria
1.1
PPE is used in accordance with organisational procedures.
1.2
Work environment is clean and free from hazards in accordance with
organisational procedures.
Range
1.3

Monitor powder detergent production.
Performance criteria
2.1
Equipment is checked as being operational and fit for purpose.
2.2
Materials are available, and are flowing in correct quantity and condition to
correct location in accordance with organisational procedures.
2.3
Potential equipment breakdowns are identified, and corrective action is taken
with person responsible for work area.
2.4
Upstream and downstream production team members are kept informed of
production status throughout powder detergent production in a manner and
within a timeframe that promotes goodwill.
2.5
Product is correct granulation, colour, and chemical composition as specified in
organisational procedures.
2.6
Product waste is minimised, and opportunities to rework non-conforming
product are maximised.

Powder detergent production is monitored in accordance with organisational
procedures.

Maintain powder detergent production.
Performance criteria
3.1
Production downtime due to maintaining powder detergent production is
minimised.
3.2
Variations in specified technical performance of equipment and product are
identified, and corrective action is taken within a timeframe that optimises
performance.

Powder detergent is maintained at correct volume and flow for production.
3.4
Equipment is operated and maintained in correct working order in accordance
with organisational procedures.

Powder detergent integrity is maintained in accordance with organisational

Product dust is minimised in accordance with organisational procedures.
3.7
Powder detergent production is maintained in accordance with organisational
procedures.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
