Credit may be gained for this unit standard by demonstration of knowledge relating to
one nominated medium: film or television or radio.

This is an introductory unit standard. It seeks to develop an understanding which will
encourage further learning in the area while allowing people to perform their skills in
their nominated medium aware of the constraints imposed by law.

Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes:

Broadcasting Act, 1989;
and their subsequent amendments.

Copyright Act, 1994 is described in terms of the rights of the copyright owner of
material to be filmed or broadcast.

Procedures to be followed are described in terms of using material subject to
copyright for film or broadcast.
