Specified industry performance is 55% BSI
performance or equivalent. BSI Performance is the
British Standards Institute internationally recognised
performance system (BS3138) where 100% is the
standard expected from a competent fully qualified
performer using the correct methods and taking the
allowed rest. Other comparable rating or performance
systems such as the 60/80 system are acceptable, with
the appropriate performance adjustment.

1.1
Equipment used for hand trimming footwear linings is identified and described
in terms of function and purpose.
Range:

Equipment used for machine trimming footwear linings is identified and
described in terms of function and purpose.
Range:
blade, blade holder, guide, foot, drive mechanism, controls.

Set up and maintain equipment used for trimming linings.
performance criteria
2.1
Equipment is set up and adjusted in accordance with product specification,
company practice and/or manufacturer's specification, and material to be
trimmed.
Range:
2.2
Knife blades and scissors are maintained in accordance with company practice.

machine – guide position, foot position.

Sharpness of blade is checked and, if necessary, resharpened in accordance
with company practice.

trimming – on uppers and finished shoes;
equipment – two of trimming machine, clicking knife scissors.

Lining to be trimmed is identified in accordance with product specification
and/or company practice.
3.2
Equipment for trimming is selected in accordance with product specification and
company practice.
3.3
Angle of trim is in accordance with product specification and company practice.
3.4
Work is completed to specified industry performance standard.
3.5
Work is completed to company quality standards.
Range:
clean trim, tight trim, no overcutting, no damage.
3.6
Documentation is completed to company requirements and practice.
3.7
Work is completed to company safety standards.
3.8
Work area is cleaned and waste disposed of in accordance with company
practice.

Trim footwear linings
