People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate
knowledge of an assembly winding machine; prepare and
operate an assembly winding machine; identify and fix
operational and product faults; and clean assembly winding
machine and work area.

Definition
Workplace procedures – procedures used by the organisation carrying out the work
and applicable to the tasks being carried out. Examples are – standard operating
procedures, site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, codes of
practice, quality management practices and standards, procedures to comply with
legislative and local body requirements.

Assembly winding equipment may include – semi-automatic machines, automatic
machines.

Competence is intended to be demonstrated on the type of assembly winding
equipment installed in the candidate’s workplace.

The function and operation of the assembly winding machine sections are
described.
Range
depending on the machine, may include but is not limited to –
machine controls, creel, tension devices, yarn clearers, winding
head, take-up package, yarn detectors, length measurement, yarn
jointing.

Prepare and operate an assembly winding machine.
