Examples are – standard operating procedures, site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, codes of practice, quality management practices and standards, procedures to comply with legislative and local body requirements. 3 Range Assembly winding equipment may include – semi-automatic machines, automatic machines. 4 Assessment guidance Competence is intended to be demonstrated on the type of assembly winding equipment installed in the candidate’s workplace. 5 Assessment information All evidence must be in accordance with workplace procedures. Range depending on the machine, may include but is not limited to – machine controls, creel, tension devices, yarn clearers, winding head, take-up package, yarn detectors, length measurement, yarn jointing. Outcome 2 Prepare and operate an assembly winding machine. Evidence requirements 2.1 Machine is operated. 2.2 Assembly winding machine is prepared for operation. Range 2.3 Yarn is wound. Range 2.4 yarn identified, creel or carousel, thread up according to machine requirement and work instructions, take-up package in place. creel maintained, full packages doffed, end breaks mended. Yarn joins are made. Range knot or splice. 2.5 Wound yarn is handled and records are kept. 2.6 Test samples are taken. Outcome 3 Identify and fix operational and product faults. Evidence requirements 3.1 Corrective action is taken to rectify yarn faults identified during processing. Range 3.2 yarn breaks, thick and thin, single ends, split yarns, yarn appearance, uneven tension, package build and density, contamination. Assembly winding machine malfunction is identified and corrective action taken. Outcome 4 Clean assembly winding machine and work area.
