Demonstrate knowledge of selective breeding of fin fish on an aquaculture facility.
Performance criteria
1.1
Stock history is explained in terms of targets and stock performance of the
company.
1.2
Stock data is gathered and analysed in terms of the selective breeding
objectives of the company.
1.3
Differences in family stock and production stock are explained.
Range
may include but is not limited to – growth, maturation, inbreeding,
quality traits.
1.4
The differences in family stock are explained in terms of the impact on creating
families for fin fish, and desirable traits outlined in the selective breeding
objectives.
1.5
The process of selective breeding is explained in accordance with company
requirements.
Element 2
Carry out selective breeding for family creation of fin fish on an aquaculture facility.
Performance criteria
2.1
Stock for family creation is identified and selected in accordance with company
requirements.
2.2
Equipment and resources are prepared in accordance with company
requirements.
2.3
Stock is selectively bred in accordance with company requirements.
2.4
Documentation is completed in accordance with company requirements.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
