People credited with this unit standard are able to: identify the repair required; select material to make the repair; and make the repair. Explanatory notes 1 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. 2 Definition Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative requirements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify the repair required. Evidence requirements 1.1 Section of product requiring repair is identified. Range workbook, job card. Outcome 2 Select material to make the repair. Evidence requirements 2.1 Material of damaged part is identified in accordance with company requirements. 2.2 Material is selected to make the repair in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and company requirements. Outcome 3 Make the repair. Evidence requirements 3.1 Method for making repair is determined in accordance with company requirements. Range replace damaged panel, darn, patch, darn and patch, hot weld, sew, adhesive. 3.2 Equipment to carry out the repair is selected in accordance with company requirements. 3.3 Product is repaired by selected method in accordance with company requirements. 3.4 Section of product repaired is checked for function in accordance with company and customer requirements. 3.5 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements.
