People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate
knowledge of materials used, and the effects of workplace
conditions on these, and the storage and/or warehousing
systems in use in the workplace; and prepare, handle, and
store materials used for, paper bag and sack converting.

and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for
personal, product, and workplace health, safety and environmental matters, and the
obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment
Act 1992, Privacy Act 1993, Copyright Act 1994, Defamation Act 1992, Films,
Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993, and their subsequent amendments.

Materials used for paper bag and sack converting are identified, and those used
in the workplace are described in terms of their characteristics.

Effects of workplace conditions on materials are described in terms of humidity,
static and temperature.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate knowledge of the storage and/or warehousing systems in use in the
workplace.

2.1
The locations of storage and/or warehousing systems are identified in
accordance with workplace practices.

2.2
Storage and/or warehousing systems identified in performance criterion 2.1 are
described in terms of functions and services.

functions may include – receive, store and move stock, monitor
stock, issue stock, dispose of obsolescent stock, despatch stock;
services may include – stock enquiries, stock level maintenance,
cataloguing, data entry, scanning.
Systems used in the workplace for recording stock movement are outlined in
terms of functions and operation.

systems may include but are not limited to – reel store, stereo
store, ink store, finished goods store, distribution store, hazardous
goods store, inward goods store.

Material handling equipment is identified in terms of the types of goods it may
be used for.

Evidence requirements
3.1
Materials are checked and confirmed as meeting the job requirements.
3.2
Material quantities are calculated and quantities issued are confirmed against
the job documentation.

Handling and storage of materials are carried out in accordance with workplace
practices.

of damage to materials, avoidance of personal injury, static
