Evidence requirements 2.1 Pre-make ready tasks undertaken in the workplace are identified. 2.2 Machine systems used in the carton converting area of the workplace are described, and the uses and advantages of each system explained. 2.3 Requirements of other departments and processes affected by the production being undertaken are described. Range may include but is not limited to – cut and crease, carton forme making, finishing. Outcome 3 Demonstrate mathematical skills applicable to carton converting production. Outcome 4 Demonstrate knowledge of the machinery and equipment used in carton converting production. Range may include but is not limited to – printer, folders, gluer, slotter, creaser, transfer section, window patcher, folder/gluer, glue gun, glue station, plough, rails. Evidence requirements 4.1 Machinery and equipment used in the workplace for carton converting production are identified. 4.2 Machinery and equipment used in the workplace for carton converting production are described in terms of their functions. Outcome 5 Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of maintaining workflow throughout production. Evidence requirements 5.1 Importance of flow of work from the time a job is raised through production and distribution is described. 5.2 A selected job is explained in terms of its workflow from start to finish. Outcome 6 Demonstrate knowledge of the storage and/or warehousing systems in use in the workplace. Evidence requirements 6.1 Storage and/or warehousing systems located in the workplace are described. Evidence requirements 7.1 Processes used to manufacture substrates used in carton converting are described. Range 7.2 Substrates used in carton converting are identified in terms of their characteristics. Range 7.3 paper, carton boards. Effects of relative humidity problems likely to be encountered in the workplace are outlined and ways of overcoming these are explained. Range may include but is not limited to – trade publications, instruction manuals, maintenance manuals, spare parts manuals, videos, DVDs, product specification information, customer specification information. Evidence requirements 9.1 Reference material applicable to the process and workplace is located. 9.2 Reference material is used to ensure machine operation and product use meet workplace requirements. Outcome 10 Demonstrate knowledge of the factors contributing to production costs. Evidence requirements 10.1 Effects of wages, materials and machinery costs are described in terms of overall production costs. 10.2 Effect of wastage is described in terms of profitability. 10.3 Systems for recording stock movements are outlined in terms of their importance.
