People credited with this unit standard are able to plan, perform, direct, and monitor quality of venting and draining for hot dip galvanizing. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used throughout operations in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. 3 Definition Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations. Range 1.2 venting requirements – location and size of holes for components; components – sealed hollow section, hollow, with welded gussets, with webs, with overlapping surfaces. Any pre-existing venting and drainage provision is checked to determine suitability in accordance with company procedures. Outcome 2 Perform and direct venting and draining for hot dip galvanizing. Evidence requirements 2.1 Venting and draining provision is made in accordance with company procedures. Range components – sealed hollow section, hollow, with welded gussets, with webs, with overlapping surfaces. 2.2 Inadequate pre-existing venting and drainage provision on components supplied for galvanizing is corrected in accordance with company procedures. 2.3 Other jigging staff are directed to check provision of adequate venting and draining of components in accordance with company procedures. Outcome 3 Monitor quality of venting and draining for hot dip galvanizing. Evidence requirements 3.1 Consistency of venting and draining provision is monitored in accordance with company procedures. 3.2 Where applicable, records of component venting and draining are kept in accordance with company procedures. 3.3 Unsuitable components that cannot be adequately vented and drained are identified and removed from production in accordance with company procedures.
