Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to maintain:
marina pontoons and fingers; equipment, plant, and machinery;
buildings or sheds; utility boats used at marinas; marina
landscaping; and outdoor marina structures.

Explanatory notes
1
All required equipment must be set up, started up, operated, and shut down in
accordance with marina’s operational procedures.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite
health and safety procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product, and
worksite health and safety, and must meet the obligations required under the Health
and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and subsequent and delegated legislation.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite
environmental procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product, and
worksite environmental matters, and must meet the obligations required under the
Resource Management Act 1991, and subsequent and delegated legislation.

This unit standard is a practical partner to Unit 27247, Demonstrate knowledge of
marina infrastructure maintenance. Some of the assessment tasks may be able to
combine evidence requirements for both unit standards.

All outcomes in this unit standard must be carried out so that effects of the
maintenance work on other marina stakeholders are minimised.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Maintain marina pontoons and fingers.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Pontoon and finger maintenance is carried out to maintain safe, tidy and
serviceable condition.
Range
1.2
may include but is not limited to repair, replacement or correction
of faults on – mooring lines, retrieval lines, fendering, non-slip
tread, timber repair, bolt replacement, water supply faucets,
electrical box attachment, hose racks, dinghy racks, gates,
signage, gangways, paint;
evidence is required of maintenance on at least four different
items.
Maintenance is logged and completed in accordance with marina’s operational
procedures.
Outcome 2
Maintain marina equipment, plant, and machinery.
Range
at least one item each of marina equipment, plant, machinery.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Marina equipment, plant and machinery maintenance is carried out to maintain
safe, tidy and serviceable condition.
2.2
Maintenance is logged and completed in accordance with marina’s operational
procedures.
Outcome 3
Maintain marina buildings or sheds.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Marina building or shed maintenance is carried out to maintain safe, tidy and
serviceable condition.
Range
3.2
a minimum of four items of the following – paint, security, locks,
doors, windows, roofing, guttering, spouting.
