Evidence requirements
1.1 The purpose of marinas is described in terms of meeting customer needs.
1.2 The range of facilities and services that may be offered in association with berthage is described for New Zealand marinas.

2.1 Types of berthage are described in terms of their advantages and disadvantages.

2.2 Attributes of berthage are described in terms of advantages, disadvantages and cost.
Range includes but is not limited to – water depth, access, location, tidal flow, sea state, exposure to wake.

Evidence requirements
3.1 Staff and contractors involved in operating a marina are identified in terms of their roles and tasks.
3.2 Customers involved in using a marina are identified in terms of how they interact with marina organisation.

Demonstrate knowledge of marine environmental considerations that impact on marina operation.
Evidence requirements
4.1 The marine environment is described in terms of marine factors that cause and accelerate deterioration of marina materials.
4.2 The marine environment is described in terms of hazards and potential harm that may be caused to marina users and operators.
Outcome 5
Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety considerations in marinas.
Evidence requirements
5.1 Potential marina hazards are identified in terms of health and safety risk.
5.2 Methods of dealing with the hazards are described in terms of elimination, isolation or minimisation.

Potential instances in a marina environment that may require first aid are identified and the first aid practices required are described in accordance with
Assessment Guide for Unit Standard 26552.

Describe methods of communication used in marina operation.
Evidence requirements
6.1 Intercom use and function is described in accordance with marina’s operational procedures.
6.2
Two way radio use is described in accordance with marina’s operational procedures.
