Those credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers; remove and replace seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers; and adjust seals and rubbers to rectify water, dust, and exhaust gas leaks into the vehicle. Evidence requirements 1.1 Seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers are identified according to vehicle manufacturer's specifications. 1.2 Purpose of seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers are identified according to vehicle manufacturer's specifications and company policy. 1.3 Tools used to remove and replace seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers are identified according to tool manufacturer's specifications and company policy. Evidence requirements 2.1 Tools and equipment that enable the job to be carried out are identified and used according to tool and equipment manufacturers' specifications and company policy 2.2 Seals, welts, edge trims, and rubbers are removed and replaced according to vehicle manufacturer's specifications and company policy. 2.3 Tools and equipment are clean and put away in their place according to company policy. 2.4 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task. Range personal safety, safety to other people, environmental safety; vehicle safety; tool, equipment and machine safety. Outcome 3 Adjust seals and rubbers to rectify water, dust, and exhaust gas leaks into vehicle. Evidence requirements 3.1 Tools and equipment to test and rectify leaks are identified. 3.2 Tests are carried out and leak is identified according to company policy. 3.3 Misaligned seals and weatherstrips are adjusted and refitted, faulty components are replaced with new parts, and no leak exists. 3.4 Tools and equipment are clean and put away in their place according to company policy. 3.5 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task.
