Classification Extractive Industries > Extractive Industries Management Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Performance of the outcomes of this unit standard must comply with the following: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (HSE); Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995; Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2013; approved codes of practice issued pursuant to the HSE Act; WorkSafe New Zealand Act 2013. 2 All statutory and authority requirements must include the latest amendments. 3 Definition Industry best practice refers to those practices which competent practitioners within the industry recognise as current industry best practice. These may be documented in management plans, company procedures, managers’ rules, occupational health and safety policy, industry guidelines, codes of practice, manufacturers’ instructions, and safe working and/or job procedures (or equivalent). 4 Range depending on the candidate’s work context, mines rescue and related equipment relevant either to a surface extraction site or to an underground extraction site; mines rescue and related equipment includes – first aid equipment, personal protection equipment (PPE), communication equipment, fire-fighting equipment, lifting equipment; mines rescue and related equipment may include but is not limited to – Team Captain’s bag, gas detection equipment, stabilisation equipment, extrication equipment, vertical rescue equipment, hazard chemical response equipment. Evidence requirements 1.1 Mines rescue and related equipment is checked for readiness in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and industry best practice. Outcome 2 Operate equipment for mines rescue. Evidence requirements 2.1 Mines rescue and related equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and industry best practice. Outcome 3 Clean, sterilise, recommission, test, and store used equipment. Evidence requirements 3.1 Mines rescue and related equipment is cleaned, sterilised, recommissioned, tested and/or stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and industry best practice. Outcome 4 Complete documentation related to mines rescue equipment. Range may include but is not limited to – Team Captain’s book, operation plans, photographs, operational recordings, relief teams, base recording sheets, incident reports. Evidence requirements 4.1 Documentation is completed in accordance with industry best practice and made available for debriefing.
