Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work in the coachbuilding industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare to fit out the
interior of a passenger service or motor home type vehicle, and fit out the

Definitions
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and
procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality
specifications, and legislative requirements.

Suitable tools and equipment means industry approved tools and equipment that are
recognised within the industry as being the most suited to complete the task in a
professional and competent manner with due regard to safe working practices.

Range
includes fitting interior components to any one of the following types of vehicle –
passenger service vehicle, motor home, ambulance, caravan, special purpose
vehicle;
may include but is not limited to – climate and temperature controls, racks, lockers,
seats, furniture, lighting, hygiene equipment, floor coverings, mouldings, trims.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Prepare to fit out the interior of a passenger service or motor home type vehicle.
Performance criteria
1.1
Customer requirements are verified and checked in accordance with company
requirements.
1.2
Materials used to fit out the vehicle interior are identified and procured in
accordance with customer specifications and company requirements.
1.3
Suitable tools and equipment are selected in accordance with company
requirements.
Range
may include but is not limited to – saws, welding equipment,
shears, pliers, spanners, screwdrivers, staple gun, staples, tape
measure, straight edge, knives, glue gun, square, markers,
fastening equipment.
Element 2
Fit out the interior of a passenger service or motor home type vehicle.
Performance criteria
2.1
Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with
legislative requirements.
Range
personal safety, safety of others, vehicle safety, workshop safety,
environmental safety, tools and equipment safety.
2.2
Low voltage electrical wiring and components are fitted to the vehicle in
accordance with company requirements.
2.3
Any 230 voltage electrical wiring is arranged to be completed and certified in
accordance with company requirements.

2.4
Insulation is fitted to the vehicle in accordance with company requirements.
2.5
Interior linings and floor covering are fitted to the vehicle in accordance with
company requirements.
2.6
Interior components are fitted to the vehicle in accordance with company
requirements.
2.7
Vehicle is checked and all parts operate in accordance with company
requirements.
2.8
Vehicle interior is groomed and prepared for the customer in accordance with
company requirements.
2.9
Tools and equipment are returned to their places, and the work area is cleaned
in accordance with company requirements.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
