People credited with this unit standard are able to: determine drawing requirements for canvas fabrication and allied industries; perform calculations to produce drawing for canvas fabrication and allied industries; produce drawings for canvas fabrication and allied industries; and make the model for canvas fabrication and allied industries. Explanatory notes 1 The following legislation and regulations and subsequent amendments are applicable to this unit standard and must be followed: – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; – Resource Management Act 1991; – Building Act 1991 and relevant codes; – Local Body Regulations. 2 This unit standard covers the production of detailed design working drawings for company products, producing a scale model from these drawings, and costing the job in the canvas fabrication and related industries for company products. Evidence requirements 1.1 Drawing requirements are identified according to job specification. 1.2 Drawing media to meet job specification are selected and used according to company policy. 1.3 Drawing parameters to meet job specification are identified according to company policy. Range projection, view, scale, and layout, aesthetic requirements. Outcome 2 Perform calculations to produce drawing for canvas fabrication and allied industries. Evidence requirements 2.1 Calculations are undertaken to obtain construction measurements and are according to job specification. Range 2.2 areas, circumferences, arcs, chords, fits, tolerances, mathematical constants including pi, triangular calculations using Pythagoras, triangular calculations using trigonometric functions. Dimensions to meet job requirements are selected according to company policy and job specification. Outcome 3 Produce drawings for canvas fabrication and allied industries. Evidence requirements 3.1 Tools and materials are selected and used that will enable the drawing to be carried out as per job requirements. 3.2 Components and assemblies are drawn to job requirements. 3.3 Drawings are dimensioned and labelled to job requirements. 3.4 Drawings are produced to documented job specifications appropriate to worksite. 3.5 Drawings are checked and meet product specification. Evidence requirements 4.1 Tools, equipment and materials that enable the model to be produced are identified and used. 4.2 Model is created and matches detailed design drawing and job requirements. Range perspective, overall view, aesthetic requirements. 4.3 All scale measurements are accurate and are according to tolerance requirements as defined by company requirements. 4.4 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task. Range personal safety; safety of other people; workshop safety; tool, equipment, and machine safety. Outcome 5 Calculate cost of jobs for canvas fabrication and allied industries. Evidence requirements 5.1 Estimated time to complete the job is calculated, costed, and documented according to workplace procedures. 5.2 Estimated materials needed for the job are identified, costed, and documented according to workplace procedures. 5.3 Estimated total cost is identified and documented using workshop procedures, and in accordance with company policy.
