Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to establish
maintenance requirements for the long-term maintenance of an
aircraft fleet and major aircraft components, and produce and
update maintenance forecast plans.

Explanatory notes

All tasks are to be carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures, the enterprise
being the organisation carrying out the work. Enterprise procedures referred to in this
unit standard are the applicable procedures found in the following: enterprise
exposition; manufacturer publications; Government and local body legislation;
airworthiness authority requirements.

Long-term – in excess of three months.

The range applicable to all outcomes of this unit standard covers long-term
maintenance plans for an aircraft fleet, individual aircraft, and major components such
as engines and propellers.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Establish maintenance requirements for the long-term maintenance of an aircraft fleet and
major aircraft components.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Future maintenance requirements are identified from, and are consistent with, the
approved maintenance programme.
1.2
Present maintenance status is established from, and is consistent with,
maintenance records.
1.3
Special requirements that may affect future maintenance programmes are
identified.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Future fleet and/or aircraft utilisation is consistent with operator supplied data.
2.2
Calculated expiry of future maintenance requirements is within the parameters of
the maintenance philosophy being applied and consistent with utilisation.

2.3
Maintenance activities are scheduled within the limits of available capacity and
estimated expiry dates.
2.4
A maintenance forecast plan is produced in accordance with enterprise
procedures.

Update a maintenance forecast plan.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Factors and/or circumstances which may impact on the maintenance forecast plan
are identified.
3.2
Changes made to the maintenance forecast plan reflect altered circumstances.
3.3
Maintenance forecast plan is amended in accordance with enterprise
procedures.
