The qualification is designed to credential people who are entering into or working in the direct mail production industry. Outcome Statement Graduate profile Qualification Reference 3197 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 Graduates will be able to: - Maintain personal safety around machinery to ensure safety standards are met in the workplace. - Implement a range of basic technical production skills to support direct mail production requirements. - Apply relevant industry knowledge of terminology, machinery, equipment to production processes. - Apply direct mail production finishing techniques under limited supervision to meet customer requirements and industry standards. Graduates of the Film Wrap Strand will also be able to: - Operate, with limited supervision, the Film Wrap equipment required to produce film wrapped product for the Direct Mail Industry. Graduates of the Ink Jet Strand will also be able to: - Operate, with limited supervision, the Ink Jet equipment required to produce ink jet printed product for the Direct Mail Industry. Graduates of the Inserting Strand will also be able to: - Operate, with limited supervision, the Inserting equipment required to insert product for the Direct Mail Industry Page 1 of 4 Graduates of the Laser Printing Strand will also be able to: - Operate, with limited supervision, the Laser printing equipment required to laser printed product for the Direct Mail Industry. Education pathway Graduates may go on to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Direct Mail Production (Level 4) [Ref:3198] or the New Zealand Certificate in Print (Level 4) with strands in Digital Printing, Direct Marketing Production, Offset Printing, Reel Fed Printing and Screen Printing [Ref:3199]. Employment pathway Graduates will be qualified to work as operators where they are required to operate Direct Mail Production machinery under limited supervision and with further training and work experience may go on to be Technicians in the Direct Mail Production industry. Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification can be awarded by an organisation which has an approved programme of study or industry training programme leading to the qualification. This qualification may also be awarded by an education organisation accredited under section 250 of the Education Act 1989 to deliver an approved programme leading to this qualification. Evidence requirements for assuring consistency Evidence will include the following: - Employer surveys to determine if graduates of the qualification meet the graduate profile outcomes. Evidence of effective processes to ensure programmes continue to meet current industry needs. A range of workplace evidence demonstrating that graduates meet the graduate profile outcomes. Credits 15 Transition information Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Direct Mail Production (Level 3) [Ref: 1128]. People currently working towards the replaced qualification may either complete the requirements for that qualification by 31 December 2019 or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualification. The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2017. The last date for assessment against this qualification is 31 December 2019. It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Competenz at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
