Strategic purpose statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the marine industry
with people who have the advanced skills and knowledge, in the
theoretical, practical, and technical requirements of marine
design to work as marine designers and lead teams.
This qualification is for experienced boat builders who have an
advanced working knowledge and skills in vessel design,
construction, and vessel systems.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

Lead a team and work collaboratively in a design
environment, to provide design solutions for marine design
projects

apply advanced knowledge of boat design, construction,
engineering, and electrical-electronic systems to solve
complex problems for marine design projects

manage design projects from concept to completion,
including the management of other team members , the
monitoring and reporting of progress, and evaluation of the
project outcomes.
This qualification may build on:

- Hazardous Substances & New Organisms (HSNO) Act 2001.
- Maritime legislation
Training and programmes must reflect current practice and
maintain currency with amendments to, and replacements of
relevant legislation, regulations and Australia/New Zealand
Standards (AS/NZS) or any other relevant international standard.
