The purpose of this qualification is to provide the marine and
composite industries with people who are able to operate as
composite technicians in the areas of manufacturing and repair.
This qualification is for people who are currently employed in a
composite work place or those who wish to enter the composite
industry.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to work in a range of
unsupervised trade level roles.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

safety and minimise potential hazards and environmental
risk in a composite work place

apply a range of materials and systems to manufacture and
repair composite items or products

programme
Programmes will typically be a New Zealand Apprenticeship.
The current version of the following documents must be complied
with:

Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992
Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995
Hazardous Substances & New Organisms (HSNO) Act
2001.
Training and programmes must reflect current practice and
maintain currency with amendments to, and replacements of
relevant legislation, regulations and Australia/New Zealand
Standards (AS/NZS).

Replacement information
This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Composites
(Level 4) [Ref: 0121].
People currently working towards the expiring national qualification may choose to complete that
qualification or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualification.
The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2016.
The last date for assessment against the replaced qualification is 31 December 2018.
It is not intended that any existing candidates are disadvantaged by this review. However, anyone who
