This qualification is for people entering or wishing to enter the composites industry. Graduates of this qualification will be able to work in a range of supervised entry level composite roles. Outcome Statement Graduate profile Qualification Reference 3055 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2015 Graduates of this qualification will be able to: - apply health and safety practices to ensure own safety and minimise potential hazards and environmental risk in a composites work place environment - select and use a range of hand and power tools, simple plant and equipment relevant to common tasks in a composite work place environment - follow standard processes or operating procedures to complete common construction and repair tasks in a composite work place environment - apply knowledge of composite physical properties and composite technology relevant to common composite tasks - apply knowledge of drawings and specifications to carry out measurements and calculations to determine material requirements, and cost of those materials for common composite tasks - apply composites specific industry knowledge and terminology to communicate effectively; and behave in a professional manner with colleagues, suppliers, managers, and customers. Page 1 of 4 Education pathway This qualification may build on from the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 1, 2 or 3. Graduates of this qualification may progress to: Employment pathway - New Zealand Certificate in Composites (Level 4) [Ref: 3058] - New Zealand Certificate in Boatbuilding (Level 4) [Ref: 3057]. Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in a range of supervised roles in the marine or composite industry. These may include: - junior composite technician - composite technician, composite boat building, or composite spar making apprentice - technical sales representatives in the composite industry. Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by any organisation with an approved programme of study or industry training programme. Evidence requirements for assuring consistency Evidence for programme providers may include: - assessment information leading to the achievement of the graduate outcomes - a portfolio of learner work relating to the qualification and the annual review focus requirements - graduate and/or stakeholder/end-user feedback on outcome achievement - relevant excerpts from External Evaluation and Review reports. People currently working towards the expiring national qualification may choose to complete that qualification or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualification. The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2016. The last date for assessment against the replaced qualification is 31 December 2018. It is not intended that any existing candidates are disadvantaged by this review.
