This qualification is suitable for people who are pursuing work or already working in the industry as estimators, and who wish to enhance their current capabilities to support their career opportunities across a range of companies in the architectural aluminium joinery sector. Graduates will be able to work to the required safety, technical, quality, and productivity standards expected unsupervised, providing customers with confidence in the estimations they receive. Graduate profile Graduates of this qualification will be able to: - Outcome Statement - Education pathway apply health and safety practices, codes of practice, and industry standards to the production of joinery items apply specifications, sketches, and plans to support the estimation of architectural aluminium joinery products produce estimates, reports, and schedules for architectural aluminium products. This qualification can build on from the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] Construction and Infrastructure Vocational Pathway. Graduates of this qualification may choose to progress into further study of other New Zealand construction-related trades or management qualifications at levels 4, 5, and 6. Employment pathway Graduates of this qualification will be people already working in the industry as estimators. Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by the BCITO as the qualification developer and the industry training organisation arranging training leading to the qualification under section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992. This qualification may also be awarded by an education provider recognised as a programme owner accredited under section 259 of the Education Act 1989 to deliver a programme leading to this qualification. The formal document certifying the award of this qualification will display the NZQF logo and may also include the name or logo of the qualification developer and/or other awarding body. Evidence requirements for assuring consistency All education organisations delivering programmes that lead to the award of the qualification are required to participate in a consistency process scheduled by NZQA. This will involve review of evidence associated with graduates’ achievement of outcomes, and agreeing acceptable thresholds for qualification outcome achievement, and areas for improvement. To demonstrate how graduates are achieving the qualification graduate profile outcomes, tertiary education organisations (TEOs) are required to produce their own evidence in a highlevel report. Evidence may include the following: - programme statistics such as completion data and graduate destination data; evidence from internal and/or external moderation processes; documentation of processes that ensure programmes continue to meet current industry needs; regular feedback gathered from learners and employers; any other relevant evidence as appropriate. The following unit standards may be used for this outcome: - 558 25858 28206 19605 28228 Transition information Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Level 4) with strands in Quotation, and Special Aluminium Joinery [Ref: 1687]. The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2017. The last date for assessment against this qualification is 31 December 2020, at which time it will be designated as discontinued. Candidates may either complete the replaced qualification or transfer to the New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Estimator) (Level 4) [Ref: 2941]. It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to BCITO at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
