This qualification will provide for those individuals who are wishing to work or are already working in the industry as joiners, a credential that will support their career opportunities across a range of companies in the joinery sector. Graduates of this qualification will have standards of trade practice for joinery that can provide customers with confidence in the products they receive. The strands in this qualification allow graduates to specialise in areas of joinery. The optional strands recognise the knowledge and skills required of cabinetry installation and computer numerical controlled machinery. Employment pathway Graduates of this qualification will typically be people already working in the industry as joiners. Graduates may also obtain employment within the joinery industry as a: Supervisor Technical Representative Sales Representative Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification will be awarded by an organisation which either has programme approval and accreditation or an approved industry training programme. The certificate will display the title of the qualification; the logos of the NZQF and BCITO; and the name and/or logo of the awarding body. Evidence for assuring consistency All education organisations delivering programmes that lead to the award of the qualification are required to participate in a consistency process scheduled by NZQA. This will involve review of evidence associated with graduate’s achievement of outcomes, and agreeing acceptable thresholds for qualification outcome achievement, and areas for improvement. To demonstrate how graduates are achieving the qualification graduate profile outcomes, TEOs are required to produce their own evidence in a high level report. Evidence may include the following: - Programme statistics such as completion data and graduate destination data. - Evidence from internal and/or external moderation processes. - Documentation of processes that ensure programmes continue to meet current industry needs. Credit transfer will be automatic where assessment standards are used for assessment within programmes of study or training leading to this qualification. Minimum standard of achievement and standards for grade endorsements Achievement of all outcomes. Entry requirements (including prerequisites to meet regulatory body or legislative requirements) It is recommended candidates hold either the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] or the National Certificate in Employment Skills [Ref: 0231] or are able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. There are no grade endorsements for this qualification. Qualification conditions Overarching conditions relating to the qualification Conditions for programme structure Candidates undertaking programmes leading to the award of this qualification will be required to complete the core graduate outcomes and a minimum of one of the four strands. Candidates undertaking any of the two optional strands will complete these in addition to the qualification requirements. Cabinetry is a pre-requisite for the optional strand Cabinetry Installation. Computer Numerical Controlled Machinery is an option accessible via any strand. Conditions for programme context TEOs arranging training or delivering programmes towards this qualification must ensure that the training arranged and programmes of learning delivered, are kept up-to-date with regard to amendments to, and replacements of relevant legislation, regulations and Australia/New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS).
