People credited with this unit standard are able to: determine, report and brief personnel on notifiable work; and determine and coordinate permit requirements for an infrastructure works project. Assessment parameters will depend on company and site specific equipment, procedures, and practices. Practices must reflect industry best practice and comply with legislative requirements. Assessment against this unit standard requires candidates to complete and process a Notification of Particular Hazardous Works form as required under the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995. They include legislative and regulatory requirements which may apply across the company or to a specific site. Requirements are documented in the company’s health and safety plans, traffic management plans, contract work programmes, quality assurance programmes, policies, and procedural documents. Contract specifications include plans, diagrams, and special technical conditions. They do not include special administrative conditions. Notifiable work is as defined by the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995. Permit means any permit that addresses the protection of health, safety, the environment, and/or assets at civil infrastructure worksites. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Determine, report and brief personnel on notifiable work for an infrastructure works project. Evidence requirements 1.1 Notifiable work requirements are determined in accordance with company and legislative requirements. 1.2 Notifiable work is reported to the Department of Labour in accordance with legislative requirements. 1.3 Relevant project personnel are briefed on notifiable work in accordance with company requirements. Outcome 2 Determine and coordinate permit requirements for an infrastructure works project. Evidence requirements 2.1 Permit requirements are determined in accordance with contract specifications and company requirements. 2.2 Site visit determines additional requirements in accordance with contract specifications and company requirements. 2.3 Permit is obtained in accordance with legislative requirements, contract specifications and company requirements. 2.4 Project personnel are briefed on specific permit requirements in accordance with company requirements. 2.5 Services and obstructions on site are identified in relation to permit requirements. Infrastructure ITO SSB Code 101813 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 26793 version 1 Page 3 of 3 2.6 Site is visually inspected to ensure the types of protection implemented meet permit and legislative requirements. 2.7 Safety procedures are documented in accordance with permit requirements. 2.8 Visual inspections are undertaken to confirm that instructions have been carried out in accordance with permit requirements. 2.9 Actions and corrective actions are documented in accordance with permit requirements.
