finishing operations.

Definition
Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are documents containing information on toxic
substances used in the worksite. It is a requirement of the Environmental Protection
Authority that all worksites using toxic substances have SDSs.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Three types of sealer used in furniture finishing are identified and their
properties are explained in accordance with the reference text.

properties are explained in accordance with the reference text.

application, are explained in accordance with the reference text.

explained in accordance with the reference text.

The drying requirements of sealers and undercoats prior to finish coatings are
explained in accordance with the reference text.
Outcome 3
Explain the purpose of clear and pigmented finished coats and their method of application
in furniture finishing operations.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Types of clear and pigmented finish coatings used in furniture finishing are
identified and their purpose and uses are explained in accordance with the
reference text.
Range

3.2
The preparation requirements for clear and pigmented finish coatings, in terms
of method of application, are explained in accordance with the reference text.
3.3
The requirements of sealers and undercoats prior to use of clear and pigmented
finish coatings are explained in accordance with the reference text.

coatings are explained in accordance with the SDSs for protective coatings.
4.2
The storage requirements for protective coatings used in furniture finishing are
explained in accordance with the SDSs for protective coatings.
4.3
Safe handling of protective coatings is explained in accordance with the SDSs
for protective coatings.
