Outcome 3 Explain the purpose of clear and pigmented finished coats and their method of application in furniture finishing operations. Evidence requirements 3.1 Types of clear and pigmented finish coatings used in furniture finishing are identified and their purpose and uses are explained in accordance with the reference text. Range a minimum of three types in total. 3.2 The preparation requirements for clear and pigmented finish coatings, in terms of method of application, are explained in accordance with the reference text. 3.3 The requirements of sealers and undercoats prior to use of clear and pigmented finish coatings are explained in accordance with the reference text. 3.4 The drying requirements of clear and pigmented coatings are explained in accordance with the reference text. Outcome 4 Explain the safe handling and storage requirements of protective coatings in furniture finishing operations. Evidence requirements 4.1 The personal protection requirements for handling and storing protective coatings are explained in accordance with the SDSs for protective coatings. 4.2 The storage requirements for protective coatings used in furniture finishing are explained in accordance with the SDSs for protective coatings. 4.3 Safe handling of protective coatings is explained in accordance with the SDSs for protective coatings.
