Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Demonstrate knowledge of concrete reinforcement.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The relationship between concrete and reinforcement is explained in terms of
grades of concrete used, strengths, and how the bond is developed.
1.2
The properties of reinforcement are described in terms of thickness of cover,
high-yield and mild steel reinforcement, uses and appearance of different types
of reinforcement.
1.3
The application of steel fabric and expanded metal reinforcement is described in
terms of fixing details.
1.4
Methods of fixing and locating reinforcement are identified in terms of tolerance
and locating reinforcement.
1.5
Reinforcement drawings and bending schedules are interpreted in terms of
tolerances in cutting and bending reinforcement.
